Sidewalk Weeds is a series of photographs that came out of a reaction to my recent move to an entirely new landscape. Each slide contains a silhouette of a weed that was collected on my daily commute. The urban landscape is a space that often lacks naturally occurring plant life - trees are planted in sidewalk beds and flowers are planted in constructed spaces in front of businesses. Pollination and rainwater merge to produce some of the most resilient, unapologetic plants. Cyanotype, sunlight, and water archive and reveal underappreciated plant life within the urban landscape.
